There is something about Sabre flatware that just makes me happy. The shiny stainless steel utensils with their colorful handles are pure pleasure to look at. I’m not wild about the printed designs (except for maybe the adorable oyster knives with little fishermen on them) but I would like very much to own several place settings in their “Natura” line. That is if I could ever choose a color.

To be sure, I am talking about plastic. The Sabre people would probably prefer that I use the words “acrylic resin”, but I’m all for calling a spade a spade, especially at this price point. You would be lucky to find a 5-piece place setting of the Natura line for under $70. That said, it is some of the most beautiful plastic acrylic resin I’ve ever seen, lustrous and pearlized like hard candy. I’m drawn most strongly to the green, pink, and red shades, but they’ve even managed to make ivory interesting (and trés elegant to boot) with its milky, mother-of-pearl opalescence.
Alas, a table full of Sabre is not in my near future. In the meantime I will happily settle for a few serving pieces; a cheese knife, a salad set, a salt shaker, a napkin ring. In turquoise, please. Or moss green. Or maybe aubergine.
