First Night

The bad news is that it’s really, really hot in Paris right now.  The good news is that it doesn’t get dark until 10:30, so that when things start cooling off in the evening there’s still plenty of light left.

Not that Paris isn’t beautiful in the dark…

I arrived a bit behind schedule yesterday afternoon and promptly crashed, very happy to not have to do any more heavy lifting until the 15th, when I move to the apartment I’ve rented.  In the meantime I’m with a generous friend in a generously sized apartment whose thick stone walls manage to keep some of the heat outside.

We hibernated for the afternoon, and then went to the Marais for dinner at a pizza place I’d read about recently. The pizza was, frankly, weird, but it had cooled off just enough to sit outside, the company was good, and there was a glass of rosé in front of me.  Plus, not finishing the pizza left room for coconut gelato at Pozzetto.

Who am I kidding?  I would have found the space.

I’ll tell you where there is no more space:  In my largest bag which, weighing in at 67 pounds was just shy of the weight limit for a single piece of luggage on an international flight.

But I promise you that I need every single thing in that suitcase.  For once, I haven’t brought any excess baggage to Paris.

Ok– I need a quick catch up. WHY did you move to Paris? Is it for good? What is happening here? I want to link your blog to mine. May I do that? I really like it and am sad that I just now found it.

  • What a beautiful picture! Sounds like you’ve hit the ground running. Can’t wait to see what the next few weeks hold for you. Will be living vicariously through your blog….
