“Accro” means “hooked” or “addicted” in French. I am accro à several things: My morning coffee, the game Wordtwist (You are going down, Joe!), Advil PM, and now, pistachio ice cream with calissons from À La Mère de Famille.

À La Mère de Famille sells all kinds of sweets: Chocolates, candies, nougats, honeys, jams, and in the summer they scoop ice cream from a freezer set up in front of the store.
You may already know that pistachio is one of my favorite ice cream flavors. What you might not know is that when I worked in restaurants, I would often sneak a bit of almond paste straight from the giant can. I love the stuff. Calissons, a famous almond paste sweet originally from Aix-en-Provence, are a specialty at À La Mère de Famille, and someone in the famille had the brilliant idea of folding bits of the chewy, orange-scented treat into pistachio ice cream.

I’ve had it three days in a row.
I need a hostess gift for a get together tonight and I was thinking a bottle of wine would fit the bill. But maybe a box of chocolates from À La Mère de Famille would be better. In fact, I should go take care of that now.
