I’ve said before that I like a restaurant that recognizes its limitations, but before having lunch at Song Heng, you’ll need to recognize your own.

If you don’t like waiting in lines, arrive early or avoid this address altogether. If you like having more than 2 items to choose from on a menu, this is not the place for you. If you think it might bother you to be asked to move down a seat or two mid-lunch to make room for more people at the table, then stay away.
But if you are hungry, have €10 in your pocket and like bo bun or pho, head to rue Volta.
Here I will confess something: I’m not wild about pho. I don’t hate it either, but there is something about it that makes me wrinkle up my nose a little, and I would like to tell you what it is but I have no desire to explore the matter any further. Bo bun, on the other hand, I love. Love, love, love. I love the noodles, love stirring up the bowl so that the dressing coats the lettuce and sprouts and beef, love the crunch of the peanuts, the freshness of the mint.

So that’s what I order at Song Heng, every time (and yes, I’ve been going there frequently).
I wish everything in life were so simple.
Song Heng 3 rue Volta, Paris 75003. Lunch only.
pho and limitations aside… i love the architecture, didn’t even think you were in paris when i saw the top photo.
